DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR DOG MISDIAGNOSED!!!!!!
I got a puppy two days ago and noticed a little blood in her stool yesterday morning. I couldn’t get off work, so my mom called this vet and was told to bring in stool from my dog to get tested. They did a test, and told my mom that my dog tested positive for parvo. The vet told my mom “I have a medication for parvo that has been in my freezer, it is expired but it should still work”. She told my mom she would charge $300 for it since it is expired, that we could do the IV there or we could go somewhere else and pay $1,000 for one that isn’t expired. The vet made it seem like though expired, because it was frozen it was still potent and would help my dog. I brought my dog up to the vet with my mom. When they brought us in, the tech put us in a room. The vet came in with the drawn up medication and a razor. The tech held my dog to help the vet shave my dog’s leg so she could insert the IV and inject the medication. The vet struggled with it, began to become frustrated, and my dog bled “more than normal” per the vet. She then shaved the dog’s other leg and again, struggled and grew more frustrated. During, my dog was yelping and my mom turned away and covered her ears. The vet told my mom “if you don’t stop I’m sending you to your car”. When the vet mentioned my dog was bleeding more than normal, my mom asked “why is that?” And the vet sarcastically and hatefully responded with “because of the big needle!” My mom said “well you mentioned that it’s more than normal, could there be something else?” The vet again gave a rude comment in return. After she gave the medication, or thought she did, I asked what next steps were and tried gaining more information about parvo. The vet was very short with me and acted put out. She told me the medication expired in December. When I asked if she thought it would still work, she told me yes and that it could several days for the medication to work and that we had a 60% chance of my dog being okay. She then told me that she would call and verify that the medication was still good. (When this was said, I was thrown off. Because shouldn’t she have known that prior to administering??) Throughout the visit, the tech kept making comments about how healthy my dog seemed. She didn’t seem sick at all. After the visit, I paid $275 and I left feeling like I didn’t help my dog and confused on what else I needed to do. I called TWO different animal hospitals. They both separately told me the stages of parvo - vomiting, lethargic, rejecting food and water, etc. When I had mentioned to them that my dog’s only symptom was a little blood in her stool, that she is still eating and acting normal, they BOTH told me to seek a second opinion and to never go back to this vet again. Today, I took my dog to a different vet. She tested NEGATIVE for parvo. I called this vet and let them know. She tried saying “I showed your mom the positive test”. She even tried lying to me saying she advised against the medication. I called her out and reminded her that she told me that the medication should work and my dog had a 60% chance of being okay. I demanded a refund and she refused. She gave me $150 back of the $275. I had to pay for another vet visit and labs and this careless, hateful vet couldn’t even find it in her heart to apologize for misdiagnosing my dog and wasting my time and injecting my dog with God knows what! Refunding me the whole amount is the LEAST she could have done! As a “vet”, she should have known the stages of parvo. I even told her, “you saw my dog. You knew she was healthy other than her stool and you still said it was parvo”. Two other vets could tell me my dog didn’t have parvo without even looking at her, just based off having no symptoms. This vet is clearly clueless. DO NOT GO HERE! Oh, and when I asked if she ever called about the medication being expired and seeing if it was still good - she told me “I did call, and they told me there have been no studies done to tell me if it is or not”. How convenient.
